Clint Hocking and the Evolution of Ubisoft’s Open-World Design

For some, Clint Hocking needs no introduction. After working as a designer on the first two Splinter Cell titles, Hocking rose to prominence as the creative director of Far Cry 2 and as a columnist for Edge Magazine. He left Ubisoft in 2010, but returned last year to Ubisoft Toronto to work on as-yet-unannounced projects – and during the 2016 Game Developers Conference, we had the privilege of picking his brain to find out how Ubisoft and its open-world games have changed and evolved since he first left.
