What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 2nd)
Another busy week in the world of Nintendo comes to a close. This week saw a bunch of Switch OLED videos popping up on the interwebs as the consoles find their way into the wild ahead of next week’s launch, a new Pokémon was unveiled, the rebooted GamesMaster got its presenter, and the N64 turned 25. Again. In North America.
After all that it’s time to chill out and discuss our weekend gaming plans. A few members of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to give our entries a read and then join in with your own via our comment section. Enjoy!

My excitement for Metroid Dread is getting almost out of hand, so at the moment I’m switching between Metroid: Samus Returns and Metroid Fusion while I wait — the former for those MercurySteam mechanics and the latter as the immediate predecessor. Why isn’t it 8th October yet?
Beyond that I’m still enjoying some brain-dead brawling in Marvel’s Avengers, which has fun campaigns that make the online multiplayer stuff easy to ignore.

Mad to think next weekend we’ll all be telling everyone how excited we are to play Metroid Dread! Putting yourself in stasis for a week when you’re meant to be working seems frowned upon so I suppose I’ll be playing something else this weekend.
I’ve got a few gaps in my Castlevania portfolio, specifically on GBA where I’ve only played Aria of Sorrow. Thankfully Castlevania Advance Collection just released and I know the other two games don’t get the same amount of love but I’m still eager to form my opinion on them .- naturally starting with Circle of the Moon. With rumours of a new instalment bubbling about, now seems like a very good time to dive further into the series.

This weekend is EASTWARD WEEKEND, baby! I wish I could play The Forgotten City again, but I know all the twists, so instead I’ll just tell YOU to play it. In Eastward, on the other hand, I’m only a few hours in, and I’m not sure what it’s really about yet, so I assume there’s a lot more to see and learn. It’s fun!

Hi folks! I’m still plugging away at Castlevania Advance Collection this weekend. I’m jumping between the games at the moment, but focusing a lot on Aria of Sorrow right now. It’s a belter, isn’t it! Having lots of fun with the collection, but it’s clear Circle of the Moon has aged quite a lot in the years since its release.
Elsewhere, I downloaded AI: The Somnium Files on the Series X. It’s a nice palette cleanser after last weekend’s Halo Infinite flight, and it’s keeping me busy until the launch of Alan Wake Remastered (which I cannot wait for!).

How is everyone so calm when we are less than one week away from Metroid Dread? Sure, this was yet another wonderful week on the eShop with zany action in Antonball Deluxe, hilarious UnMetal shenanigans and a welcome wave of nostalgia coming in hot from both Castlevania Advance Collection and Hot Wheels Unleashed. Should be a great weekend… counting the days until Samus once again graces my TV set.
Game of the week is G-Darius HD. A personal PS1 favourite back in the day is now a personal Switch favourite in glorious HD remastered edition. Don’t even get me started on the Zuntata soundtrack. Meditation indeed!
As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave us a comment below with your weekend gaming plans!
