What Tom Clancy’s The Division can learn from Destiny
How to survive comparison with 2014’s most hyped release.
If Destiny had a sibling – a sibling who favours beanies over pressurised helmets, and who is absolutely filthy with disease – that sibling would be Tom Clancy’s The Division, an over-the-shoulder, always-online shooter that unfolds deep in the heart of an exceedingly rotten Big Apple. True, Ubisoft’s game looks like Miracle On 34th Street with a generous dash of Silent Hill, while Bungie’s is Flash Gordon by way of Battlefield, but dust away the snow and you’ll find their mechanisms compare.
