Before we begin…

FINAL FANTASY I – VI Pixel Remaster

Play portably on:

  • Nintendo Switch
  • Steam Deck (FINAL FANTASY, FINAL FANTASY II, FINAL FANTASY III, FINAL FANTASY IV confirmed Steam Deck Verified)
  • iOS
  • Android

Also on:

The first six mainline FINAL FANTASY games have been remade as the Pixel Remaster series, and they’re the best they’ve ever been. Which, considering they’re some of the most beloved RPGs of all time, is saying something.

Each has been reworked visually to look incredible on modern HD displays, difficulty has been rebalanced across the series, and they’re full of quality-of-life enhancements, including the ability to auto-battle, increase experience and money earned by up to 4x for faster levelling, and even turn off random encounters entirely. Special mention must also go to the reorchestrated soundtracks, which are astonishingly good.

The games are available separately or as a bundle containing all six adventures:

FINAL FANTASY VII – IX

Play portably on:

  • Nintendo Switch
  • iOS
  • Android

Also on:

FINAL FANTASY VII, VIII and IX are three of the greatest RPGs ever made, and they’re available now on modern platforms – and playable portably! Originally released on the original PlayStation, each one presents a distinctly memorable tale, characters, and world.

What’s more, all three have been enhanced with awesome quality of life features, including the ability to speed up time, power up and heal your team for easy fights, and even turn of random encounters. It makes each adventure more convenient to play than ever – especially on the go.

FINAL FANTASY VII surely needs no introduction. The tale of Cloud Strife and company’s battle against Sephiroth and the Shinra Electric Power Company is widely considered one of the greatest RPGs of all time thanks to its gripping story, unforgettable characters, and fast-paced combat.

FINAL FANTASY VIII tells the tale of Squall Leonhart and the students of Balamb Garden – a training facility for elite mercenaries. It’s one of the most action-packed and bombastic entries in the series with incredible set pieces, impressive full motion video, exciting combat, and the supremely customizable Junction system.

Finally, FINAL FANTASY IX steps away from the science fiction for a more fantasy-infused aesthetic. The story centers on Zidane – a warm-hearted thief whose plan to kidnap Princess Garnet goes off the rails spectacularly when she essentially kidnaps herself. It’s an emotional adventure that perfectly balances humor and tragedy.

FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster

FINAL FANTASY X|X-2 HD Remaster features two games, as well as loads of extra content that will please any fan. Which is basically anyone who plays the games because they’re fantastic adventures.

FINAL FANTASY X initially casts you as Tidus – a Blitzball player who finds himself lost in a strange world after an attack by a devastating sea creature named Sin. He ultimately joins a young Summoner, Yuna, on her pilgrimage to end the monstrously moist menace once and for all.

The first direct sequel in the FINAL FANTASY series, FINAL FANTASY X-2 takes place in a world that’s changed by the events of the previous game. This time, Yuna takes center stage, as she and her allies travel the world in search of mysterious spheres.

FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE

Play portably on:

  • Nintendo Switch
  • Steam Deck

Also on:

FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE is a very different FINAL FANTASY game. Set in the world of Ivalice, it features a grittier tone and more freeform gameplay than previous games in the series. The highlight is the Gambit System, which lets you essentially ‘program’ behavior for your party in battle – few things are more satisfying that seeing your master plan play out in action.

It’s a truly great game, and the seamless nature of exploration and combat, and the myriad of hunts to undertake, make it a brilliant portable play.

FINAL FANTASY XV and FINAL FANTASY XV POCKET EDITION

Play portably on:

  • Steam Deck
  • Nintendo Switch (Pocket Edition only)

Also on:

  • PS4
  • Xbox One
  • iOS (Pocket Edition only)
  • Android (Pocket Edition only)

FINAL FANTASY XV features an expansive world, lovable characters, beautiful animation, incredible music – and all shine when played portably on Steam Deck.

You play as Prince Noctis and his companions Ignis, Gladio and Prompto, who leave their home for Noctis’ upcoming wedding. But things take a dark turn when the Niflheim Empire launches an invasion of their country, forcing Noctis to step up and take the fight to them.

Despite the serious stakes, the game has a wonderful road trip vibe. Cruising the world in your car, completing quests, and taking on hunts for cash, does feel like hanging out with friends. Combined with a lot of visual flash and sizzle, and an incredible soundtrack and it’s a real treat to play on the Steam Deck!

Nintendo Switch and mobile users can check out FINAL FANTASY XV POCKET EDITION. This follows the same story but features a mission-based structure with adorable chibi visuals. It captures the same flavor as the original game in a way that perfectly suits portable play.

Play portably on:

  • Nintendo Switch

It’s a lavish remaster of the original PlayStation Portable game, with vastly improved visuals, faster, more responsive combat and even a few new features. Its origins as a portable game, and seemingly endless bite-size missions, make it an ideal choice for trains, buses or just lying in bed.

Play portably on:

Also on:

A rhythm action game based on FINAL FANTASY’s incredible soundtracks? That should be music to your ears!

THEATRHYTHM FINAL BAR LINE contains 385 music tracks from the FINAL FANTASY series, and more than 500 when you factor in DLC (including songs from other Square Enix series like NieR and OCTOPATH TRAVELER!)! It’s an obscenely generous celebration of some of the best music in gaming.

With each track taking just a few minutes to complete, tons of additional objectives in Series Quests, and that constant urge to just do one more song, it’s the perfect pick and play game.

FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS
