MSI has instituted a recall of its MAG CoreLiquid 360R And 240R liquid CPU coolers due to a manufacturing defect. Anscheinend, these coolers are prone to sediment build-up in the coolant channel, causing blockages, and severe loss in cooling performance. When idling, CPU temperatures can reach as high as 62 °C, and the machine can trigger T-junction-Max thermal failsafes if subjected to load.
“Our preliminary investigation has identified that a small portion of the liquid coolers produce sediment that can cause a blockage. Diese, jedoch, will not cause any damage to your system since the processors are equipped with a protection mechanism against overheating,” MSI said in a statement. The company set up an online forms to file for free replacements of the cooler, such as this page meant for Canada.
