Voice acting for fighters and cross-play has been confirmed for platform fighter Nickelodeon All-Star-Schlägerei.

The good news was delivered by art director Diego Hernández on veteran Super Smash Bros. player Hungrybox’s stream. Fans of the game have been enjoying the depth and potential of the brawler’s core gameplay since it launched back in October, although the lack of voices for the cast of characters — including such icons as SpongeBob, the Ninja Turtles, Nigel Thornberry, und Garfield — has been a sticking point for many.

There are no details on the exact extent of the voice work incoming or the voice actors involved, but for the dedicated fan base which has built up around the game, this will be very welcome news.

Hernández also confirmed cross-play for all platforms, which is scheduled to arrive in Q1 2022. There’s also a final free DLC character to be revealed soon, and he stated that more characters, stages, and features are being worked on — as paid DLC, vermutlich.

While not officially confirmed as the reason, it would seem that the budget simply wasn’t available to add voice acting pre-launch, but the success of the game has apparently enabled the addition for, vermutlich, all the principal fighters.

You can watch the entire segment from Hungrybox’s stream below:

We very much enjoyed the game when wir haben es überprüft at launch, saying it wasa solid platform fighter with an awful lot of hidden depth, and also an unfortunate lack of polish outside the fighting”. Deswegen, it’s very nice to see that polish being applied in updates coming in 2022.
