Yacht Club’s New Game Engine Is Powering An Unannounced 3D Project
We’ve heard before about the Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games working on a “new 3D project” and now it seems to have come up again during an interview Ars Technica. Yacht Club’s game designer Alec Faulkner has revealed how the Shovel Knight wird vorne und in der Mitte sein engine is also powering a new “unannounced 3D game”:
“This engine is actually brand new, made from scratch by our team. That’s been our secret for the past five or six years—it’s being used to develop both this game and concurrently our unannounced 3D game.”
While Mina might look similar to a title like Link’s Awakening on Game Boy Color, apparently “unter der Haube” it’s got more in common with a game like Atem der Wildnis.
Back in 2020, Spiele des Yachtclubs’ mentioned how the next logical step was to work its way up to a “big 3D game”, while at the same time issuing a reminder it was working on a “new 3D project” via a job listing.
Yacht Club Games has just released Schaufelritter Dig with the assistance of developer Nitrome, and it seems to have struck gold with this latest release. You can learn about it in our review:
