Rainbow Six Siege

We’ve previously introduced you to the original 10 Rainbow Six Siege Operators – from Smoke and Mute to Sledge and Ash. Now’s your chance to get to know the remaining 10 as you start assembling your dream teams of Operators. The previous group included Operators from the British SAS, FBI SWAT and French GIGN counter-terrorism units. We’ll finish off the list with a couple more members of the GIGN, as well as four Russian Spetsnaz and four German GSG 9 Operators.

Attackers

espoleta – Russian Spetsnaz – If you like sending loud messages, Fuze will likely be your go-to Operator. While he doesn’t have the most delicate touch (read: not delicate at all), Fuze’s cluster charges are perfect for maximizing destruction and minimizing face-to-face time with your enemies’ guns. These cluster charges stick to walls or barriers and eject sub-grenades on the other side, filling the room with explosives. Be careful when using Fuze in hostage extraction modes, sin embargo, as the grenades can definitely hurt the hostage and cost you the round. If you want extra coverage, you can equip Fuze with a riot shield and pistol in place of either of his two other primary weapons.

Blitz – German GSG 9 – Blitz is a flashy guy who loves to make an entrance (or at least, that’s what it says in his online dating profile). When in the right hands, Blitz makes for an excellent point man, as the blinding flash charges on his riot shield will leave enemies stunned and open to attack from anyone behind you. His shield also comes with a tinted window, which will come in handy should an enemy tosses a stun grenade your way.

Glaz – Russian Spetsnaz – Glaz is for players who have a bit more patience. Need some cover when you’re clearing a room? Breach a window and have Glaz snipe through it to help you eliminate the threat. Equipped with an HDS flip sight, Glaz can set up shop in a sniping post outside and make quick work of anyone who wanders into his field of view. Glaz’s high-powered rifle makes him a force to be reckoned with, even indoors. We find he’s incredibly useful for the more open maps like Chalet, Kanal and Kafe Dostoyevsky, but had some troubles with the tight corridors, sharp corners and impenetrable windows of the Plane map. Even then, he was ideal for taking tough shots down some the Plane’s longer hallways. Glaz also provides excellent cover fire when playing the Hostage Extraction mode in Terrorist Hunt.Rainbow Six Siege Once one teammate has the hostage, Glaz can scout ahead and clear a path to the extraction point.

IQ – German GSG 9 – A successful Operator balances brains and brawn. Equipped with the wrist-mounted Spectre, IQ is able to detect any electronic device within range. She can help the attacking team avoid electronic traps like Kapkan’s entry denial device, Jäger’s Magpie or Mute’s jamming device. She can also detect hidden Nitro Cells, which could save your teammates from a very messy death. But IQ isn’t just limited to fixed devices. With the Spectre, you’ll be able to spot mobile electronic devices like Pulse’s cardiac sensor and even the Bomber’s bomb jacket, so you won’t be caught unaware.

Montagne – French GIGN – Montagne is a hulking beast of a man. Heavily armored, he’s one of the slower Operators, but what he lacks in speed, he more than makes up for in damage absorption. Montagne’s extendable shield can cover him from head to toe while standing, allowing his teammates to gather behind him and clear out the room, but you won’t be able to use weapons or melee attacks with the shield fully extended, which means you’ll definitely want to partner up. The top of his shield is also angled, making it tougher for enemies to shoot at you from above. Unlike the other point men, Montagne’s shield stance cannot be broken by melee hits, so he really does live up to his name.

Defenders

Bandit – German GSG 9 – Bandit always goes for the shock factor, quite literally. His crude electrical device (CED-1) can be used to electrocute metallic objects. Want a clever way to block a path? Drop a deployable shield, stick one of Bandit’s devices behind it and watch enemies electrocute themselves when they try to vault over. Place a CED on a reinforced wall to disable any gadgets placed on that wall. When placed in barbed wire, the electrical current will not only deliver someRainbow Six Siege electrical damage to anyone passing through, but it will destroy drones that attempt to scout beyond the barbed wire.

DOC – French GIGN – In a game that’s all about being a team player, DOC is the epitome of that term. His stim pistol will allow him to quickly revive downed teammates from a distance, eliminating the treacherous revive time and the need to potentially run into the line of fire to aid someone. Don’t try to use DOC to heal someone who isn’t down. It won’t work and you’ll waste a life-saving bullet. Sí, that’s a thing. In dire circumstances, you can even use the stim pistol on yourself. When playing as DOC, it’s definitely best to stick close to your team. You never know when someone will need a medic.

Kapkan – Russian Spetsnaz – Kapkan uses his skills as a trapper in the field, eliminating enemies with his entry denial device before they can even make it into the room he’s defending. By placing these devices in doorways or on window frames, you can ensure the only people coming into your fortified area are the people you want to be there. All enemies will automatically trip the sensor and be treated to a nasty explosion. These devices can be placed behind wooden barricades, making it impossible for attackers to see them. Should attackers just smash through the barricade blindly, they could find themselves in one of Kapkan’s traps. Placing one of the entry denial devices on a window frame will spell trouble for anyone rappelling in. Yet another reason for attackers to spend some of their valuable time scouting ahead.

Rainbow Six Siege
Tachanka – Russian Spetsnaz – Tachanka is perhaps the most offensive-oriented defensive Operator. With his heavy armor and powerful mounted LMG, Tachanka can take a serious beating, allowing him to be more of an aggressor than some of the other defensive Operators. Tachanka’s LMG can be controlled by your entire team, so if you ever step away or go down during a match, someone else can step in and take over. Be sure to keep a close eye on your LMG, aunque, because if the attackers can get their hands on it, they will be able to use it as well. For a little extra cover, drop a deployable shield in front of the LMG. If you like being right in the middle of the firefight, even as a defender, Tachanka might be the Operator for you.

Jäger – German GSG 9 – Jäger is perhaps one of the more specialized characters, ideal for skilled defensive players. His Magpie gadget can be placed on walls or floors and shoot projectiles on approach, provided it has a clear line of sight to them. Sticking it on a wall gives it a clearer view, but it’s more likely to be destroyed by enemies. Setting it on the floor next to a door frame will ensure people can’t toss grenades into your room, but that could limit its view of the rest of the room. In any instance, you’ll want to thoroughly examine the area and plan out the most likely places intruders will toss grenades. In lower level Terrorist Hunt matches – where the AI doesn’t tend to toss too many grenades into the fortified room – you may be better off selecting a different Operator and saving Jäger for tougher matches.
