New Ubisoft Video Series Sheds Light on What It Takes to Make Games
“What do you actually do for a living?” From online programmers to IT and community managers, it’s a question often asked of individuals with careers in the gaming industry, and for good reason. Video games are complex, as are the tools, skills, and ideas required to create them. When a bear roams the forest in Far Cry Primal and eventually decides to attack you, everything driving its actions represents the hard work of level designers and gameplay programmers who have combined their expertise and mastery of the technology used to make games.
And it’s not just game development. The trailers you see at E3? Those are also the result of brand managers and other teams using their skills to help bring in-development games to life.
Así, how do the people who work behind the scenes at Ubisoft answer the question of what they do for a living? Behind Our Games, a series of eight videos released today, will show you. This inside look features 39 team members working across a dozen brands in eight different jobs, including IT, marketing, gameplay programming, online programming, level design, consumer engagement, technical art, and project management.
These videos aren’t meant to give you a peek at the next big Ubisoft game. Rather, they’re meant to put a face on Ubisoft employees and the work that they do to help make games a reality. You’re getting a three-minute sample of their lives and the challenges they face in a fast-paced industry that’s constantly changing. More importantly, you’ll see how working in a creative and collaborative environment produces solutions to the unique problems present in the gaming industry.
