Aléatoire: Devolver Cheekily Prods précommande Sega Over Sonic Origins
Ahhh, you can always count on Devolver Digital to take the bull by the horns and have fun with any kind of situation. And this time, Sega is the butt of the joke.
Plus tôt cette semaine, Sega’s long-awaiting Sonic compilation, Origines sonores, got an official release date of 23rd June after a few days of leaks. And while some people were excited, it was hard to ignore the messy pre-order chart that Sega created for the collection. Luckily, we’ve got a handy little guide to break it all down for you, but we also want to know what you think of this bizarre move from Sega:
Imagine if you didn’t have this to go by, cependant. Many people are questioning why a compilation of old Sonic games needs a bunch of extras to go with it. Surely we just want to play the best versions of the classic five with a bunch of quality of life features and with everything accessible without paywalls?
Eh bien, leave it to Devolver to take the opportunity to poke fun at Sega over its pre-order chart for Sonic Origins. In a rather amusing move, the publisher used this opportunity to promote one of its own games — Randonnée à Yomi.
When things like bonus animations and letterbox backgrounds are locked to pre-orders (or given as early access bonuses if you pre-order special editions), it’s hard not to have a belly laugh when Devolver puts “Full credits at the end” et “Remarkable soundtrack” in their own spoof chart. Can you imagine if a developer locks the end credits behind a paywall? Though there are plenty of games where the “true ending” requires you to pick up and pay for additional DLC.
Nos amis à Eurogamer have reached out to Sega regarding their pre-order bonuses. Given the amount of backlash and confusion it’s caused, Sega might need to rethink things. But at the very least, Devolver made us laugh about it for a bit.
