Microids has revealed that Joe & Mac will soon be making their grand return with a full remake of the original game destined for modern systems next year.

This arcade platformer was originally released in Japanese arcades back in the early ’90s before hitting the SNES, NDA, Gameboy and Mega Drive shortly afterwards. Bien sûr, you might remember that we recently embarked on a return to its prehistoric era thanks to its inclusion in Nintendo Switch Online’s SNES collection – feel free to read our full review if you’re interested in checking that out.

As for this upcoming remake? Eh bien, Microids says it’s actuallymore than a remake”. Titled Joe & Mac: Ninja homme des cavernes, the new release will not only include the game we already know, but will also featurea handfulof new features, including an original adventure mode that contains brand new levels.

No consoles have been announced just yet, but with the game’s ties to Nintendo platforms, we’re hopeful that Switch will be a top priority.
