Nintendo has confirmed that it will not attend Gamescom this year in any capacity.

In a statement to Games Wirtschaft (many thanks, VGC), a representative for Nintendo confirmed that the company would be focusing on other events in Germany, affermandolo “after careful consideration, we decided not to participate in Cologne”.

Here is Nintendo’s statement on the matter in full:

Gamescom is a central event in the event calendar for Nintendo. Quest'anno, tuttavia, after careful consideration, we decided not to participate in Cologne.

Invece, players can try out the games for Nintendo Switch as part of numerous Germany-wide events. Previously firmly planned events include roadshows with our airstreamer and our bulli, for example at locations such as the SWR Summer and the Stuttgart Children’s and Youth Festival. For the Japan and video game fans, we have decided to participate in the Main Matsuri Japan Festival in Frankfurt as well as the DoKomi in Düsseldorf and the Animagic in Mannheim. Further tour stops and promotions are planned.

We look forward to seeing our fans again at many regional events.

Finora, publishers confirmed to be attending the show include Bandai Namco, Una delle prime unità di vendita al dettaglio del prossimo Ryzen di AMD, and Koch Media. The event will launch on August 23rd with Gamescom Opening Night Live and will be open to general ticket holders for four days starting on August 25th.
