Fire Emblem fans are feasting right now. We’re just a little under two weeks away from the release of Guerrieri dell'emblema del fuoco: Un altro sguardo al nuovo Musou, a Musou game set in the Fire Emblem: tre case mondo. Three Houses itself has been hugely successful for Intelligent Systems on Switch. E Eroi dell'emblema del fuoco continues to be extremely popular with fans.

Yet there’s more to come for those that love this strategy RPG series. Known Nintendo leaker and Rapporto mondiale Nintendo contributor Emily Rogers has revealed that Intelligent Systems has been working on a new Fire Emblem game for the Switch — and it’s a brand new game, not a remake or a rerelease.

Rogers shared the details of this over on Famiboard, where she states that the game is a collaborative effort between Intelligent Systems, Warriors developer Koei Tecmo, and Gust — a division of Koei Tecmo and creators of the Atelier serie. Rogers also has some tidbits about the potential new entry:

Here is what I can share about the new Fire Emblem game.

– Upcoming Fire Emblem is a new game, not a remake. Brand new story.
– Collaboration between Sistemi intelligenti, Koei Tecmo e Gust (division of Koei Tecmo Holdings).
– Gust heavily assisted with the visuals / grafica. Graphics are an improvement over “tre case”.
– Originally intended as an anniversary game to celebrate FE’s 30th anniversary. The game has been finished for over a year.
– Main character (main lord) has strange red and blue hair. His mother is a dragon.

There are some really interesting things we can pick out here — the fact that Emblems will be used to summon fan-favourite Fire Emblem characters sounds really fun. Anche, we think Gust’s lovely cel-shaded visual style would work perfectly in the Fire Emblem universe; just look at La bottega di Sophie 2: L'alchimista del sogno misterioso! E, lastly, the game is already finished — and has been for a year.

That last one is particularly interesting, because if the game is ready, and has been for more than a year, when will we be getting it. We’re already getting a new Fire Emblem game this year with Three Hopes — albeit it isn’t a traditional strategy game — so would Nintendo release a second in 2022? It wouldn’t be the first time as Fire Emblem: Le Pietre Sacre e Fire Emblem: Sentiero dello splendore both launched in 2005 in North America and Europe, but perhaps Nintendo will hold out until next year.

We’ll have to wait and see if this turns out to be true!
