During The Game Awards last December, Nintendo’s title Metroid Dread won the best “action/adventure” game. It managed to beat Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Psychonauts 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Resident Evil Village.

At the time, Nintendo of America’s president Doug Bowser accepted the award on behalf of the development team. In an update on social media, this same award has now “finally” arrived at the MercurySteam office in Spain.

The MercurySteam account shared the following shot of the award, and various other team members such as lead programmers and developer’s co-owner, Jose Dario Halle, showed it off on Twitter:

Creative Director, Jose Luis Márquez, also used the moment as an opportunity to once again thank Metroid fans around the world and said it was an award for fans and supporters of the game as well:

Last month, Metroid Dread received a free update – adding a brutal Dread Mode difficulty that ends the game if you get hit. The team also added in a new Rookie Mode – featuring increased recovery and less damage from bosses.

Apart from this Metroid Dread update, MercurySteam has already announced its next “multiplatform global release”. It’s described as a third-person action RPG and is set in a dark fantasy world. MercurySteam is teaming up with Digital Bros, a division of the publisher 505 Games.

MercurySteam is also currently hiring:

Apart from being an award-winning game, Metroid Dread has enjoyed strong sales. The last sales update in February was focused on how the game was about to become the best-selling entry in the series – with over 2.74 million sales in the first few months.

In our Nintendo Life review, we gave the game 10 out of 10 stars – calling it a triumphant return for Samus and MercurySteam.
