Ahead of the game’s release, we thought we’d give you another preview of the game, including more character classes, another example of the free-form scenario system and – excitingly – a closer look at the game’s antagonists: the Seven Heroes!

The Seven Heroes

The legendary Seven Heroes are said to have once saved the world from a great calamity before disappearing. Legend has it that when the world is once again struck by chaos, they will finally reappear to bring salvation once more…

But things are not so simple, and before long you’ll find yourself in conflict with these legendary figures – a war that will last generations.

But who are these powerful antagonists? Lets take a look at them – and some of the techniques they may use against you in battle!

Wagnas

Wagnas is the leader of the Seven Heroes. He aims to take over Yauda to find the abhorred Ancients, using the skyfaring fortress, the Floating Castle as his stronghold. He is a master of pyrology, aerology, and cosmology.

When he was human, he is said to have been a man of noble spirit, willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of world peace.

Firestorm is a unique technique utilized by Wagnas of the Seven Heroes. It envelops the entire field with a powerful storm of firm that inflicts massive pyro and aero damage.

Noel

Noel is a skilled swordsman who is investigating the Melu Desert. Though usually polite, he becomes enraged when his sister Rocbouquet, whom he dotes on, is harmed.

It is said that when he was human, he was a soldier who risked his life to protect people from the cruel termites.

Phantom Chivalry is a unique technique utilized by Noel. He creates a phantom of himself and unleashes a series of raging attacks.

Subier

One of the Seven Heroes. He is Wagnas’ cousin and has a stronghold in the Frozen Sea beyond the Nazelle Strait. He is called the “Lord of the Seas.” Vying for more power, he plots to absorb the daughter of Narwhal, the true Ruler of the Seas.

When he was a human, it is said that he valued his bond with Wagnas more than anything else and threw himself into a battle to the death with the termites.

Tidal Wave is a unique technique utilized by Subier of the Seven Heroes. He spawns a powerful whirlpool which deals massive hydro damage to the entire retinue.

Dantarg

One of the Seven Heroes, Dantarg is interested only in seeking the ultimate power and absorbing the strong.

When he was a human, he is said to have joined the army to destroy the termites at the behest of Wagnas, after having earned a reputation as a fierce general with unparalleled rigidity and strength.

Raging Headbutt is a unique technique utilized by Dantarg. He leaps high into the air to slam the weight of his entire body down on the retinue, inflicting massive damage to the entire group.

Rocbouquet

Rocbouquet is the only female member of the Seven Heroes and Noel’s younger sister. She utilizes Temptation, a unique and powerful technique to charm others and make them do her bidding

When she was human, it is said that she trained diligently in swordsmanship to help Noel, whom she admires, and Wagnas, whom she pines for.

Temptation is a unique technique utilized by Rocbouquet of the Seven Heroes. She shines with radiant beauty, charming all male characters. Watch out – charmed members of your retinue will attack allies on Rocbouquet’s behalf.

Bokhohn

Bokhohn’s stronghold is a Landship Fortress which roams freely over the expanse of the Steppe. He is a snobbishly intelligent man who is willing to resort to cunning and underhanded means.

When he was a human, it is said that he came to Wagnas in search of status, fame, and money, offering the Hero his intelligence in exchange.

Neverending Tarantello is unique technique utilized by Bokhohn. He commands a giant marionette to charge across the retinue, dealing umbro damage in a straight line.

Kzinssie

Kzinssie instigated the initial feud between the Emperor and the Seven Heroes by ordering the raid on the imperial capital of Avalon and killing Victor, the first prince.

It is said that when he was human, he was despised by the Ancients and the other Seven Heroes for his unfair and vindictive ways.

Shadow Nova is a unique technique utilized by Kzinssie of the Seven Heroes. He gathers miasma in his left hand and releases it as a ball of dark energy, inflicting umbro damage to the entire retinue.

Prequel to the Seven Heroes

By touching the fragments of the “Memories of the Seven Heroes” scattered around the world, the player can get a glimpse of events from when the Seven Heroes were once true heroes of the people, which have been never depicted in the original or remastered versions of the game.

The memories explain why the Seven Heroes became enemies of mankind.

By collecting all the memory fragments, something special may occur.

Characters and classes

That was the Seven Heroes – but what about those who fight at your side? There are more than 30 different character classes in the game, covering a wide range of races and professions. Each class has its own unique characteristics, with different proficiencies for weapons and spells.

Allow us to introduce some more of the characters you’ll meet in the game and their classes.

Combat: weapon-specific techniques

Some techniques are “weapon-specific” and can only be used with certain weapons.

There are two types of weapon-specific techniques: those that can be used simply by equipping the weapon, and those that can be used by glimmering while using the weapon. Weapon-specific techniques can be used by anyone equipped with the weapon.

“Dayblade” and “Moonlight,” the two weapons bestowed on the final male and female Emperors, respectively, each have powerful weapon-specific techniques.

Dayblade lets you use Holy Light: a technique that incinerates the enemy with the holy light that the weapon possesses.

It’s only effective against undead foes.

Moonlight’s weapon-specific tech is Lunar Blade.

It sends sword blows at all enemies with the power of the moon that the weapon possesses.

Let’s take a look at some more weapon techniques.

Final Strike

Bring the full might of your weapon to bear upon your enemy, converting its integrity into a mystical blow. The equipped weapon breaks afterwards.

Dancing Sword

A greatsword weapon-specific tech. Countless sword phantoms dance wildly and slash at the enemy.

Destruction

Starlight Arrows

Summon a starshower at the end of your turn to deal damage to all foes on the field. If the caster is downed before the effect is triggered, allies also take damage from the starfall.

Ley lines

The battlefield can occasionally have ley lines, a field effect which will be attuned to one of the six elements
(fire, water, earth, air, light, and dark). Both allies and enemies benefit from increased power and HP recovery from techniques with the same element as the ley lines.

Characters that are attuned to the ley line also recover a certain amount of HP at the end of each turn.

When a ley line is present, it is indicated by an icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

The ley line can be disrupted by using techniques of the opposite element.

New Synthesized Spells

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven features not only new regular spells, such as “Water Blast” and “Pulverize,” but also a new mechanic: Synthesized Spells, which are powerful spells combining two different spell schools (elements).
