The Wii U generation saw Nintendo embrace online gaming more than the previous generations, and naturally, third-party developers at the time took advantage of this new focus. Unfortunately, these kinds of services have to eventually wind down, and Ubisoft has decided September 1st is the time to pull the plug on online features in three Wii U titles.

In a notice on its official website, Ubisoft mentions how it is closing online services for a selection of older games including Assassin’s Creed 3, Rayman Legends and ZombiU on the Wii U. This decision is so Ubisoft can focus all of its resources on delivering great experiences for players who are enjoying “newer” and “more popular titles”.

This list also covers a number of PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC releases. By September – Wii U players will no longer be able to link Ubisoft accounts in-game or use online features in the above-mentioned titles (this includes multiplayer in AC3). It’s worth noting Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered and Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition are available on the Switch.

Ubisoft also ended online services for a bunch of Wii and Wii U games earlier this year:
