What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 9th)
It’s been a particularly crazy and busy week in the world of Nintendo, as you’ve no doubt noticed! The biggest event was undoubtedly Masahiro Sakurai’s final presentation for Smash Ultimate which confirmed the arrival of Sora. There’ve been two huge arrivals; you can check out our Switch OLED hardware review and Metroid Dread review if you like. Other huge news was confirmation of GTA Trilogy for Switch, and silliness with the darn AAA Clock being a thing. Oh, and we showcased some awesome Indie games in our very own Nintendo Life Indie Spotlight.
So, deep breath. After all that it’s time to chill out and discuss our weekend gaming plans. A few members of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to give our entries a read and then join in with your own via our comment section. Enjoy!

Yes, I will be playing a lot of Metroid Dread, I’m bloomin’ excited about it too! I did also fall into the Nintendo trap and get an OLED, mainly because I play in portable mode about 90% of the time. Old favourites I plan to try out briefly on the new screen include Okami HD, ASTRAL CHAIN and Streets of Rage 4, among others. And it’s time for my annual playthrough of Resident Evil 4, so I’ll kick that off.
Elsewhere I may give Scarlet Nexus a try, it looks delightfully silly and fun.

I’m either playing one single game with a laser-focus or I’m playing three different sprawling RPGs at the same time, and this week, it’s the latter: Eastward, [REDACTED], and Ni No Kuni, which I picked up during the blockbuster sale for a pittance. I played the sequel, but I’m in awe of how different NNK 1 is from NNK 2. Different, and better, although they’re both excellent.

It’s here folks! Metroid Dread is finally a real thing, and it’s actually here! It honestly feels so good to boot up a brand new Metroid game after what feels like decades of waiting, quite frankly. I can’t wait to get stuck in properly and see how it all plays out.
That’s pretty much it for me this weekend for the Switch, but I’m also working my way through Alan Wake Remastered on Xbox. I adore that game so much; with its Stephen King and Twin Peaks elements, it’s like Remedy just said “right, how can we make a game specifically for Ollie?” Just wonderful stuff.

This weekend, I’ve got a hodgepodge of games I’ll be playing: to start, you know I’ll be picking up Metroid Dread like the rest of the world – SO excited. Then, WarioWare: Get It Together! still has a bit of a hold on me, so I’m sure I’ll play a bit of that. Lastly, I’ve been getting back into games with fall/spoopy themes like the Scorpio I am – namely Stardew Valley and Luigi’s Mansion 3 (but if any other Scorpios have suggestions of favorite fall games I should play, throw ’em in the comments!)
As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave us a comment below with your weekend gaming plans!
